Grobbelaar will forever be remembered for play-acting during the penalty shoot out against the same Italian opposition as he turned his legs to jelly on his goal-line.
Liverpool won 4-2 to lift the 1984 European Cup in the Stadio Olimpico in Rome and Grobbelaar is still laughing about his antics today.
Grobbelaar, who believes Liverpool will repeat that final victory after disposing of Roma in the semi’s, said: “I just improvised it. I made my legs like spaghetti.
“Even the goal looked like spaghetti so I ate it up. I am still laughing at that. The photographers went mad. I was winking and shaking my head.
“That’s why Bruno Conti missed. I paralysed Roma.”
Grobbelaar is confident that the Liverpool side of 2018 can go all the way, too, and secure the club’s sixth European Cup.
He added: “Liverpool will win the semi-final and final too. Football was invented by the English, don’t forget. Roma must have been mad to sell Mo Salah. Either that or they really needed the money.”
